Although Alfred Beck had quite an active career during World War II, very little is known about his life.
He joined the Navy on July 24, 1943 and went through Field Medical School at Camp Elliott, California. As a Hospital Apprentice Second Class, he was assigned to Company C, Medical Battalion, Fifth Amphibious Corps, and treated wounded men on Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima.
Beck joined First Battalion, 24th Marines just a month before the end of the war. Following the regiment’s disbanding, he returned to duty at Camp Elliott, and disappears from records.
